What is flap surgery?
Flap surgery is a surgical procedure performed in advanced stages of periodontitiswhen non-surgical methods (such as plaque and calculus removal, and scaling) do not produce satisfactory results.
The goal of flap surgery is to remove inflamed tissue,bacteria, and subgingival concretions (hardened deposits) from deep periodontal pockets and to stimulate bone regeneration.
